Leila Conners embodies a rare combination of talent, energy and commitment to global environmental protection and social change. She is also a terrific friend to RFFI and has helped share our important message with a global audience. Leila founded Tree Media Group, a film production company that creates media to support and sustain civil society by telling inspiring stories. Leila wrote and directed Ice on Fire, a stunningly beautiful and powerful documentary on climate disruption for HBO. The film, with Leonardo DiCaprio producing and narrating, premiered in Cannes in 2019. Leila’s first feature-length documentary was “The 11th Hour,” also co-created with DiCaprio. Leila’s background in international politics, filmmaking, and writing has put her in high demand for speaking engagements on issues of sustainability and the environment.

Is It Game Over? Or Game On?

Director Leila Conners and Leonardo DiCaprio at Cannes Film Festival debut.

Leila Conners ICE ON FIRE,
with DiCaprio narrating and producing,
is a science based documentary on climate disruption. Filmed around the globe, the magnificent cinematography captures the beauty of a planet worth saving. Ice on Fire captures the destruction but more importantly provides a stage for scientists and climate action pioneers. It transcends the current climate change conflict and offers hope that we can actually stave off the worst effects of global warming, if we act quickly and intelligently. RFFI Chief Forester Linwood Gill and RFFI North Coast Biochar Project Manager, Raymond Baltar, are both featured in the film presenting climate solutions. They are filmed in our Usal Redwood Forest, one of the largest non-profit owned working community forests in America. Watch Ice On Fire Trailer Here
