About The Redwood Forest Foundation
Redwood Forest Foundation, Inc.(RFFI) is a grass-roots organization. Loggers, environmentalists, mill-owners, community activists, foresters, economists, financiers and others are working together to manage the region’s natural resources. This unlikely group of partners transcended conflict and continue to conserve forestland, protect biodiversity, mitigate climate change and improve the local economy in an equitable manner.
OUR VISION AND MISSION
Our vision is to establish community-based forests that provide both critical habitat for increased biodiversity and improved regional economic vitality.
Our mission is to acquire, protect, restore, and manage forestlands and other related resources in the Redwood Region for the long-term benefit of the communities located there.
Some standing and some fallen giants remind us of what this forest once was. Past logging practices have impacted forest composition and structure, habitat quality, slope stability and ultimately forest health. Poorly drained roads cause road failures which affects access for projects and emergency response as well as cause significant sedimentation into the streams impacting salmonid habitat.
